For the last 12 years, the seat has been held by the same person. My campaign, however, will not be about personalities; instead it will be about ideas and effectiveness in serving all people within our district. I have studied the issues facing our region as a citizen and businessman; I believe South Carolina is moving in the wrong direction in job creation, health care and education. Things are getting worse instead of better and the Pee Dee region is suffering disproportionately because of the high rates of poverty we continue to experience. I am convinced that in all these areas we deserve much better from our state government and I believe that the time has come for a change in our leadership. I have begun my campaign this week by walking through the district to meet the voters, listening to your concerns and discussing my message of hope and change. I am running to dramatically improve job creation, health care and education for our citizens and to provide greater leadership and cooperation among all levels of government and the private sector in this district. I don’t want any of us to have to wait the rest of our lives to have better futures. I am appalled as a businessman, parent and citizen at the deplorable conditions in our state, which has experienced a tremendous loss in manufacturing jobs, especially in the Pee Dee, and a decline in new investments in our region. We can and we must do better. I intend to offer thoughtful and creative solutions to our problems while utilizing the benefits of my own experiences in creating jobs and opportunities for others. I am truly grateful to all of these sources of inspiration in my life. Now it is time for me to give back to our community for all the blessings I have had. With your interest and support we can make the changes we so desperately need in our political leadership and make real progress for our region and state. I offer to you the strength to lead, the will to fight and the passion to serve. I invite you to join me in this great journey
